Concha Project
Concha – Seville

In preparation for the Seville mission, some of the members of the Concha project (CHAM, Uninorte, Éveha) met for several workshops in Lisbon. During the third session of the Days of investigation in maritime history and archaeology (“El Paisaje Marítimo y las sociedades de las ciudades costeras”), Aurélie Mayer (Éveha International) has presented a poster dedicated to her research within the project, i.e. the study of the graves of sailors and/or shipwreck victims during the Early modern times. Mission in Seville As part of the mission taking place in Seville, Christelle Chouzenoux, Aurélie Mayer and Bruno Zélie (Éveha International) attended the workshop “Sevilla y el Guadalquivir: navegación y colonización en el Atlántico” at the Pablo de Olavide University. On this occasion, many contacts were established with Spanish and Colombian partners, some of which the team will meet again during a mission in July 2019. As part of the workshop, several visits to archaeological sites were organised (the San Augustin convent, the Italica site, etc.). At the same time, Aurélie Mayer and Bruno Zélie were able to continue their respective research work at the University of Seville. They also attended the 5th International Research Seminar “ArtEmpire-Conquest, Commerce, Crisis, Culture and the Panamanian Junction (1513-1671)” jointly organized by UPO (Seville) and Uninorte (Colombia).
