Archaeological excavations

The aim of the July 2023 campaign, which involved an international team, was to continue excavating the dwellings and to open up a new sector at the level of the supposed enclosure identified during the survey. The results of the excavation of this sector exceeded expectations, with the discovery of data shedding light on the structure of the village and burial practices. In fact, among the structures discovered, the team uncovered a mud enclosure outside which two burials were excavated. Although the dates have yet to be determined, this unexpected discovery sheds new light on local burial practices of this period, about which little or nothing was previously known.
