The 2017 dry season excavation (April\u2013May) was organized with several objectives linked to the progress of the restoration work:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sondage 3500:<\/strong> A small sector containing bricks and several sandstone elements was studied in the southern area of the basin<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sondage 3300:<\/strong> An irregularity in the masonry of the western tiers, discovered during preparatory work for their dismantling, revealed the existence of a conduit connecting the Baray to the Mebon basin<\/strong>. This was carefully studied before being dismantled to allow for the installation of foundation consolidation structures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sondage 3100:<\/strong> Following the 2015 dismantling of the eastern section of the axial causeway<\/strong>\u2014which uncovered the remains of a wooden jetty used to access the central islet\u2014the western section was dismantled to conduct preliminary studies for the restoration of the central islet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sondage 3200:<\/strong> The central islet<\/strong> was also the subject of an archaeological sounding aimed at understanding the various construction phases of the \u00ab\u00a0shafts\u00a0\u00bb (or \u00ab\u00a0wells\u00a0\u00bb).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
